Building Renovation

The Imagine campaign was launched in November 2003 to fund the renovation and expansion of Cherrydale’s facilities to include enlarging the sanctuary, making it completely accessible to those with disabilities, and adding a central fellowship center and additional classrooms. The official campaign was completed in November 2006. God has worked through His people in amazing ways. By God’s grace over $6 million of the total project budget of $8.9 million has been raised.

After a celebratory ground-breaking event on June 8th, the Cherrydale family is settling into their new Worship Center located in the gymnasium. Classrooms have been relocated to accommodate the complete shift out of the sanctuary building. Construction permits were issued June 20 and asbestos work has already begun on both levels of the building.

The BRDT recognizes Mark Malloy, pre-construction project manager, for all his hard work and tireless hours coordinating and managing the project to this point. Working with our architect, Helbing-Lipp, and the construction firm, Jack Bays, Inc., Mark continues to wrap up minor issues and hand over the reins to the new construction manager, Ralph James. Everyone is excited that Ralph has agreed to take on this task along with an in-house consultant, Dave Coffey. As we all settle into the new arrangements, we will look with excitement to the reality of the new structure being built!

Our continued prayer is that God will continue to lead us in this partnership with Him, and many will be motivated even more to choose Him daily as the work proceeds. Through our faithfulness and Godly attitude may we witness to the workers as they labor on our facility. May our youth see the dedication of the parents and elders and be excited for what God has in store for them. And as squeeze together a little more tightly during this time, may we all come to love one another all the more for it.

Reaching more people for Christ and discipling them to passionately love God and people is our primary motivation for expanding our facilities. By faith we move ahead, anticipating God’s power to sustain us and His providence to provide for us. Please pray for the remaining $2.9 million that is needed for the project. If you would like to contribute to the Imagine project, know that your partnership in the gospel is much appreciated.
