Purpose
To lead a ministry for families of children birth through 6th Grade that partners with parents to fulfill Cherrydale’s vision.
Qualifications:
- Exhibits the character qualities in I Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9; I Peter 5:1–4 and Acts 6:4
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and equivalent of a Bible Certificate
- Demonstrated ability and experience to disciple children and families
Organizational Relationships:
- Directly responsible to the Executive Pastor
- Reports monthly to the Board of Deacons
- Reports annually to the Congregation
Duties:
- Develop and implement a Sunday morning ministry for children from birth to 6th Grade which supports the vision of the church
- Identify and/or develop curriculum that coordinates with the worship service messages
- Recruit, equip, and support leaders
- Structure groupings appropriate for the age and number of the children
- Coordinate nursery coverage for regular worship and special services and congregational events as needed, including supervision of paid nursery coordinators
- Support parent-led ministries for children and parents, currently including the following:
- Christian Service Brigade (dads and boys)
- Mom2Mom (mothers and preschoolers)
- Tabitha Circle (girls)
- Facilitate seasonal ministries currently including the following:
- Vacation Bible School
- Fall Fun Festival (Halloween alternative)
- Christmas Eve Family Service
- Easter Family Service
- Provide training and resources for parents for children’s spiritual development
- Coordinate the implementation of Child Safety Practices for all ministries of the church
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Executive Pastor
- Update job description annually with the Executive Pastor and Board of Deacons
