Eric Bibb

Eric Bibb Eric Bibb is a legitimate heir to the folk music tradition. The nephew of jazz pianist John Lewis and son of folk singer Leon Bibb, Bibb the younger grew up in the fertile ground of New York in the ’60s surrounded by musical legends including Pete Seeger, Odetta, Richie Havens and Bob Dylan. Bibb started playing the guitar as a child. While enjoying the pop and rhythm and blues music of the day, he developed a taste for the traditional sounds of the blues, jazz and roots music he discovered in, among other places, his father’s record collection. He studied classics at NY’s High School of Music & Art and Columbia U.

Slaid Cleaves

Slaid Cleaves Slaid Cleaves is a rising star in the “Americana” singer/songwriter tradition whose new album, Wishbones, is racking up critical acclaim. Cleaves started out playing bars in his home state of Maine before deciding to move to musical hotbed Austin, Texas to better pursue his artistic vision. In 1992, Cleaves won the Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk competition, following in the footsteps of previous winners such as Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen and Steve Earle. He signed to Rounder Records and released No Angel Knows.

Vance Gilbert

Vance Gilbert Before Vance Gilbert built a reputation as one of the wittiest, yet wisest singer/songwriters of the contemporary folk idiom, he paid the rent as a lounge singer, pounding out everything from Top-40 hits to jazz standards. That initial training paid off as he hit the Boston folk music scene running in the early ’90s, winning fans with his musicianship and stage presence as well as his songwriting talents.

Janis Ian

Janis Ian Known as one of the great American troubadors since the 1960s, singer/songwriter Janis Ian is still going strong into the 21st century. Raised on a farm in southern New Jersey, Ian began playing piano at the age of 2. In 1967, at age 16, she released her first album, Janis Ian, and earned the first of nine Grammy nominations. Ian’s star soared in the ’70s when her hit single “At Seventeen” sold over one million copies and won two Grammys.
