Screening Database of Air Travelers
10/14/0x — The United States wants to expand the screening of international airline passengers, the Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has told The New York Times. The proposed plan could go far beyond terrorist watch lists, to vast databases that include past itineraries of travelers. Robert Siegel talks with New York Times reporter Eric Lipton.
Genocide Trial Hears from Victim
10/14/0x — Saddam Hussein and others accused in the Anfal trial begin their defense against charges that they were responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Kurds. They say the Anfal mission targeted Kurdish militias and Iranian forces who were working hand in hand in Kurdistan during the Iran/Iraq war. The first prosecution witness took the stand, where he described how his village was bombed with poison gas.

The Sounds of Life Audio Challenge
How would you capture the sounds of life in Northeast Ohio? To tackle this challenge, the WKSU staff took tape recorders throughout Northeast Ohio, and returned with more than 150, 20-second sound portraits. The Yiddish Radio Project
Seventeen years ago, musician and historian Henry Sapoznik made the discovery of a lifetime in a musty storeroom: records of Yiddish radio shows from the 1930s and ’40s. New Program Changes!
WKSU announces three programming changes. “On the Media®,” currently heard beginning at 6am each Saturday, will now first be broadcast on Friday evenings at 7pm. The popular Celtic music show, “The Thistle & Shamrock®,” debuts on WKSU on Friday, November 16 at 8pm, followed by folk music hosted by WKSU’s Jim Blum at 9pm. Both “On the Media®” and “The Thistle & Shamrock®” are distributed by National Public Radio (NPR®).
