WKSU Announces Program Changes
March 3, 200x

WKSU will offer new programs on Saturdays and Sundays beginning on March 6. Newly added programs include The Next Big Thing on Saturdays from 2pm to 3pm, Odyssey on Sundays from 6am to 7am, and a repeat broadcast of Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion on Sundays from 10am to Noon. In addition, current programs with new broadcast times are Fresh Air Weekend, which moves to Saturdays at 3pm after The Next Big Thing, followed by Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! on Saturdays at 4pm. On Sundays, David Roden’s The Baroque Era will be broadcast from Noon to 2pm.

First broadcast in 1974, A Prairie Home Companion is one of public radio’s most popular programs. Each week, host Garrison Keillor presents a collection of stories, songs, and comedy sketches that take listeners back to the days of old time radio. The two-hour program is aired live each week on Saturdays from 6pm. to 8pm. WKSU Program Director Eric Nuzum says, “By airing a repeat of Prairie Home Companion on Sundays, WKSU will provide Northeast Ohio with another opportunity to hear a favorite show at a time that may be more convenient.” He adds, “The new schedule will also allow us to feature David Roden’s Baroque Era at a later hour on Sundays.”

The Next Big Thing brings together a variety of lively reports, music, humor, and intimate conversations to form a program that uses the unique qualities of radio to shed light on life today. Created by host Dean Olsher, a life-long radio lover and former culture desk reporter for National Public Radio (NPR), The Next Big Thing is produced in New York City by WNYC.
