Michelle Chyatte
Reporter/Producer

Michelle ChyatteMichelle Chyatte joined the WKSU news staff in September 2001. After graduating from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism, she spent a year teaching journalism at two high schools in Columbus, Ohio. While there, she produced an award-winning documentary on political apathy in young Americans with her journalism students.

Since joining the WKSU news team, Michelle has focused her reporting on Stark and Wayne Counties and medical stories. She has won awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Press Club of Cleveland, Ohio Professional Writers, and the National Federation of Press Women who honored Michelle with a national first place award for her series on a landfill reclamation project in Uniontown.

She is a member of the Akron Press Club, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Association of Health Care Journalists, and the National Federation of Press Women. She also serves as a member of the Kent State University Media Advisory Committee in the journalism school and is a frequent panelist on the public affairs program NewsNight Akron.
