Mark Urycki
Reporter/Producer
 Mark Urycki has worked in radio news since 1982—in Canton, Ohio and at WKSU covering Northeast Ohio. A frequent contributor to NPR, the multiple award-winner has covered everything from sports to arts to the environment to politics. Along with his reporting duties, Urycki also produces WKSU Extra, the station’s weekly news magazine. Among Urycki’s numerous local, regional, and national honors, notable awards include two National Headliner Awards, two Clarion Awards, two first place awards in the National Federation of Press Women’s Communications Contest, a National Journalism Award from the Scripps Howard Foundation, a national Gabriel Award, two prestigious Sigma Delta Chi Awards from the National Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and WKSU’s first-ever Third Coast Festival Award for radio documentary (honoring his landmark work “Remembering Kent State 1970”). He was named “Producer of the Year” in 2003 by Ohio Educational Telecommunications and in 2000, Urycki was named “Best Reporter in the State of Ohio” by the Ohio Chapter of SPJ. Urycki is a dedicated film buff and an avid cyclist.
