What Software Do I Need in Order to Listen?

To listen, you need to have either the Windows Media player or RealOne Player software installed on your computer. Both can be downloaded for free via the links at the right. RealNetworks offers a subscription plan and an enhanced player for which you need to pay a fee, but neither of these are required to listen to WKSU, the free version will do fine.

We post new content, such as news reports, in both Windows Media and RealOne Player formats. However, older archived content is only available in RealPlayer format and will require that player to listen.

What is FolkAlley.com?

Folk Alley is our 24-hour folk music stream, playing the best in folk, traditional, celtic and world music.

What is News Stream?

The news stream provides a second chance to tune in to NPR news magazines—hear Morning Edition® from 5am until 12noon eastern time, and All Things Considered® from 4pm until 10pm eastern.

What is Your Bit Rate Stream?

The Windows Media, alternate RealPlayer, and news streams are 20kbps streams, while the primary RealPlayer stream provides multiple bit rates, depending upon your connection and settings, from 20 kbps to 44kbps.

Folk Alley streams at multiple bit rates for both Windows Media and RealPlayer, and also features a broadband-only 128kbps MP3 stream.
